Raider Camps

Advantage! now offer holiday sport and activity camps for children aged between 5 and 14 years of age, during every half term and major holiday. 

During the summer of 2021, and for all major school holidays in 2022, Advantage! Barrow Raiders Community Foundation have been chosen, along with other organisations, to deliver the ‘Holiday Activity and Food Programme’ on behalf or Cumbria County Council and the DfE. This allows free places to be offered to children from families on benefits related to free school meals.  

The focus of our activity camps is not just rugby but multi-skills and we introduce the children to and array of different sports and activities, such as Dodgeball, Ultimate Frisbee and Danish long ball, as well as more traditional sports such as rugby, football and athletics. The staff also create fun quizzes to entertain the children, as well as craft and creative activities, and music features highly too!  

Each child receives a free hot meal, as part of the funding from the HaF programme, and, thanks to additional sponsorship from Unite the Union, we are able to purchase additional equipment, provide hot meals for the children from families paying for places and fund places for our sports leaders, so they can access the camp and hot meal for free.  

Our sports leadership programme allows us to invite our sports leaders to support the coaches on the camp, and develop their leadership skills and confidence.
