Able Raiders

Advantage! Barrow Raiders Community Foundation deliver sport and activity sessions to adults with learning disabilities. The sessions include: 

Weekly Walks

A weekly walk, from varied locations, led by our Walking for Health leaders. 

Weekly Sports Sessions

A weekly sports session, outdoors at The Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium if weather permits or indoors at Hoops Basketball Centre. 

Sports and activities include: rugby; football; basketball; exercise to music; Boccia; New Age Kurling; Archery; Dodgeball. We always finish off the session with a quiz.

Weekly Rugby Training Session

To allow our participants to train and enjoy tag rugby, in readiness for our Community Integrated Care Super League festival season fixtures. This season 2022, we have five away festivals: Warrington; Hull; Newcastle Magic Weekend; Widnes; Leeds Headingly for the World Cup. In addition, our LD Super League team are travelling to Sheffield, thanks to funding from the Furness Building Society, and we have Wigan LD Super League visiting us in September 2022, for a home fixture.  

Support

Advantage! Able Raiders have also been accepted into the 2022 RL Learning Disability Super League. This will involve a series of five festival events, one of which being the World Cup festival in October, and our Able Raiders team will be playing in front of large crowds at super league stadiums.
