Educating Raiders

Advantage! Barrow Raiders Community Foundation’s core delivery, is rugby coaching, in schools. Since 2019, when we had no rugby balls, and no school bookings, we now have, on average, thirteen schools per week, maintained throughout the academic year, benefitting from our staff delivering high quality physical education and school sport provision. 

We currently offer rugby coaching, multi skills, athletics, dodgeball and, for secondary schools only, Boxercise.  

Our reach extends as far as Levens C of E primary school, with schools now contacting us for our coaching from Kendal and Millom. We deliver coaching to schools now in Barrow, Dalton, Broughton and Ulverston.  

Advantage! provide a minimum of two members of staff per school, which we believe allows us to deliver a better experience for the children, with one of the coaches a rugby professional for Barrow Raiders.  

We have received funding from Boost Charitable Trust to deliver coaching in secondary schools, as after school provision, targeting boys and girls who may struggle with confidence, and who may need support to realise their sporting potential.
