Raiders Growing The Game

Barrow is steeped in Rugby League tradition, and we want to build on the previous successes of Barrow Raiders to ensure Barrow is put back firmly on the map in terms of Rugby League success.

Our ambition is to support our fantastic local community Rugby League clubs by using funding from the RFL and Boost Charitable Trust to grow participation numbers in age groups of need. In addition to this, we are developing the love of the game and creating opportunities amongst girls and women, adults with learning disabilities and our older participants.

Silver Raiders walking rugby team, Raider Girls rugby development squad, Raider Braves, Able Raiders LD super league team, Barrow Raiders Ladies reserves and the 16-19 strength and conditioning squad, are all benefitting from Advantage! coaching and laying the foundations for the rapid expansion of the game of rugby league in our area.

There are now clear pathways developing to both the men and ladies teams, with our community club structure, Raider Braves, the JETS programme and Furness Raiders feeding into the Barrow Raiders squad, and Raider Girls Futures Programme, community clubs running girls teams such as Hindpool Tigresses, the 16-19 S&C squad, the Barrow Ladies reserves, all feeding into Barrow Raiders Ladies Super League Squad.

Thank you to funding from the RFL, via the Futures Programme for the girls and RL Survival Fund grants, via Sport England, as well as funding from Boost Charitable Trust, supporting our provision and delivery of Raider Girls, Raider Braves, and secondary school after school coaching, to develop skills and confidence, and unlock potential

Support Us

As well as funding from the RFL and Boost, we are also benefiting from funding for these additional programmes from Mencap, Furness Building Society, Toyota Parasport, the RFL Futures programme, as well as Able Raiders kit sponsorship from Corrie and Co, Unite the Union and EJ Parker technical services, and Raider Girls kit sponsorship from The Eric Wright Charitable Trust, George Park and Identity.

If you are passionate about rugby league, and would like to support us on our journey to help grow the game of rugby league in Barrow and the Furness area, perhaps consider being a Pal or a Patron, via a one off or ongoing sponsorship/donation.
