Golden Raiders
Advantage! Barrow Raiders Community Foundation initially delivered weekly Zoom chair-based exercise sessions into four care homes during the pandemic, to help support the residents and staff.
Now, we have four staff qualified in chair-based exercise, and we have secured funding from the Freida Scott Foundation to deliver community chair exercise and sessions into two care homes in the South Lakes area.
Further support from the NHS Population Health and funding from Cumbria CVS for the Winter Wellness fund, has allowed us to train more staff and deliver in three community centres weekly within Barrow and the Furness area: Croftlands Community Centre; Hawcoat Community Centre; North Scale Community Centre.
Advantage! are determined to support our older population and people who struggle with mobility issues, and as such, we pledge to continue chair-based exercise sessions into 2024 and beyond, and seek further funding in order to expand our offer to more areas.
