Terry worked at BAE Systems for 49 years, the last 30 as a Senior Welding Inspector.

He is president of the local GMB union branch, after spending 30 years as a senior staff rep in BAE.

Terry has been involved in amateur rugby league administration for 55 years, 47 of those as one of the founder members of the Furness Coaching Association.

He spent 10 years on the Barrow & District Sports Council. When that came to an end, Terry helped to set up a local sports committee, giving rewards for long service, and outstanding sports achievements, to teams and individuals.

Part of the job on the Sports Council was spent with Karen Scarr and John Spoor putting together a constitution for Advantage! Barrow Raiders Community Foundation.

Terry is chairman of the Barrow & District referees society. When he joined 15 years ago, they were rock bottom with only having 5 referees, now we have over 20 referees including some good young referees for the future.
