Paul Littlewood

Advantage Barrow Raiders Trustee

I’m Paul Littlewood and have been supporting Barrow RLFC since the early 1960’s

I joined the GPO in 1968, (which then became BT) as an Engineer, and in the late 80’s became involved with the  installing, commissioning, and maintaining Digital Exchanges, then as a manager throughout Cumbria on the Engineering side then venturing into Customer Call Centres,  delivering NVQ accreditation for Call Centres throughout the UK.

Whilst working in the Call Centres I became a Business Advisor for Team Enterprise, supporting a Post 16 class of students at a local Assisted Needs school.

I found volunteering at the school very rewarding, so much so that I enrolled and qualified as Level 3 Teaching assistant, which allowed me to help in classes rather than just observe. During my time at the school I was asked to become a Governor which I found very interesting, and I subsequently became Chair of Governors helping it to become part of an academy

I have been a member of the Woodland Trust since 1998 and in 2003 became a Volunteer Warden for the  Woodland Trust, looking after a local wood in Barrow, and also run a working group looking after three woods in the Kendal area. I give presentations to organisations, schools etc. on the history and ongoing work of the Woodland Trust.
