Charlotte Gibson

Advantage! Barrow Raiders Community Foundation Assistant Manager

Job role: To assist in the development of the Advantage! Barrow Raiders Community Foundation programme, and the profile of Rugby League, so that it has a significant impact on the well-being and aspirations of the people of Barrow, Furness and the surrounding areas

Sporting background: Ever since I can remember I have loved nothing more than sports. From Netball, Football, Basketball and Athletics, to Cricket, Rounders, Badminton and Tennis – I’ve played, competed, and enjoyed pretty much any sport I could get my teeth into!

Throughout secondary school I pushed netball to regional level, playing for the North East Regional Academy, and continued playing at a high level through my time at University; with a great group of girls and brilliant coaching. A few years at sea meant a pause in netball, but am now back playing for Lindal now I’m home.

I continued competing in equestrian sports throughout my youth and teen years, and despite a bad collarbone break during Show Jumping as a teen, continue to enjoy riding my horse, Willow.

Biggest achievement: Helping start a Netball Club from scratch as part of the This Girl Can initiative for girls in East Leeds, during my time at university.

Role model: The late, great Gillian Blain.

Sporting role model: Each for a different reason:

Serena Guthrie, Simone Biles, Michael Jordan

Best sporting moment: Watching my first ever live Netball match England v New Zealand as a child and seeing my idols in person – best feeling!
